What is a Hero's Wish? |

Veteran Tickets Foundation is proud to bring the Hero's Wish program to our members!
Hero's Wish allows members who meet certain criteria to request specific tickets for any single event, and have donors fulfill that request either by ticket donation or by donating money to make the hero's wish come true.
The Hero's Wish program can be used by Active Duty Military Personnel (one month prior to, while on leave from or one month after their deployments), severely wounded warriors and the families of men and woman killed in action (KIA).

GETTING MARRIED ON LEAVE!!! |
| I'm currently serving at an undisclosed location in the Middle East. I got engaged to my girlfriend of 3 years in February of this year. We have set a date for July 17th while I'm home on mid-tour leave. For our first date 3 years ago I took her to see the Atlanta Braves play the Milwaukee Brewers. It so happens that the same two teams are playing on the night that would be our bachelor/bachelorett party night July 15, 2010. We've made plans to go to the game for said celebration, however there are 8 people in our wedding party and getting good seats for that many people is impossible on my budget (did i mention, her parents don't approve, so I'm paying for the whole wedding.) I know its a long shot, but one of the few things that we hold on to over here are the ones we love, and following our favorite sports teams in the news. I know the Braves aren't rocking anybody's world this year, but I would still love to see them play. I know this is a long shot, but its the only shot I've got. Thanks. |

Dream to See |
| Dear VET TIX,
My name is Gordon Ewell. I am a Severely Injured Iraq War Veteran, Medically Retired after over 24 years of service (U.S. Army). It was “My Dream” to spend 30 years in military service, and retire as a Command Sergeant Major. However, in 2006, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), Blew up my vehicle. Injuries that I sustained deprived me of that dream, and many others.
I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), a Broken Neck, Lost my Right Eye, and Lost most of the Vision in My Left Eye (while I have some useable vision, I am legally Blind). I lost My Hearing (I have a Cochlear Implant), I have had the left side of my face rebuilt (jaw), and have been on a liquid diet for the better part of four years. I suffer from severe PTSD, a Flaccid Neurogenic Bladder, Cognitive Disorders,
Myalgia, Abnormality of Gait, Fracture of the 6th vertebrae in my neck, with restricted right side stenosis, Fractured Jaw, Chronic pain, Dyssomnia, and Chronic facial Pain.
My wife has had a dream of wanting to see the Broadway Show, “Wicked,” ever since it’s Premier. I told her in 2005, prior to leaving for Iraq, that I would take her when I got home. I lied. Instead of coming home, and taking her to see “Wicked,” I came home Severly Wounded, and have spent the last four years, in and out of 5 different hospitals, seeing over 43 different Surgeons, Medical Specialists, and Doctors, as well as over a dozen different Dental and Oral Surgeons, and again that many mental health professionals.
Instead of me realizing my dream, or her realizing hers, We have done nothing but try to regain all of the physical and mental health we could for me. She put her life on hold, trying to help ensure, that I would have the best life I could, with what I had l left, in the future.
Now, my dream has changed. My dream is to try to make her dream (and my original promise to her) come true.
I have to be in Palo Alto, California for a Congressional Eye Study, that I am part of, Between 12 and 14 July.
I noticed at the Orpheum Theater, on 1192 Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94102 (415) 512-7770, The Off Broadway Play of “Wicked” is being performed.
I was very excited. However, the tickets for the Orchestra Section of the Play are $95.00 a piece. It might not seem like a lot, but with SIX kids at home, the price is way “outside” of my grasp.
If I could have a wish come true. It would be to be able to take her to see “Wicked,” while we were in the “Bay Area,” 12-14 July, the 14th if at all possible.
I have not even told her that the Play is going on, for fear that she would just have her hopes dashed again, if I were unable to take her.
Anyway, that is my dream. If there is anything you could do to make it come true, I cannot tell you how grateful I would be.
If it just can’t happen, I totally understand, and would still like to tell you thank you for all you are doing and trying to do on behalf of all our Soldiers and Veterans. Thank you Very MUCH!!!

 I just came home from a year in Iraq and I contacted VTF, they were really helpful in getting me great seats for me and my family. I took my son to his first Red Sox game and we had a great time. Long awaited Honeymoon. |
| Shortly after I married my wonderful wife Amy I deployed to Iraq. Now that I am nearing my return home I would like to take her to Disney World in Orlando Florida for our Long awaited honeymoon. My wife has never been there and I think it would really be something we will always cherish and remember. The tickets are $99.00 each for 4 day passes. We are asking for 2. Tim McGraw Concert for R&R |
| Hi there. I'm PVT Kirk Downing, currently serving overseas (with the Florida National Guard) in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
I don't think that answering the call of duty for the greatest country on earth makes me a hero, as I am just one of millions who have done it. But I am definitely learning how hard it is to be away from the people I love and care about.
I was blessed to receive a "Rest & Relaxation" leave for next month (May) and am excited to get home to Florida and see my Family and my Girlfriend. I miss them like crazy, and it will be extremely great to get away from the stresses of life over here.
There is a Tim McGraw concert at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach on May 8th, and I would love to drive up from Miami and take my girlfriend or sister to the show. Tim McGraw is my favorite artist in the world, and that would pretty much "make my whole year!"
To those of you reading this and the many others, thank you for all you do to support us. The amount of love in the way of gifts, greeting cards, care packages, etc. is overwhelming and awesome. We can't all thank you enough for helping to make our time away from "home" a little easier. God Bless you all. |

Academy of Country Music Awards |
| I am currently deployed in Iraq. I will be on leave from 1 Apr 10 to 21 Apr 10 and will be in FL and Las Vegas, NV. I recently found out the Academy of Country Music Awards will be taking place in Vegas during that time. I am a huge country music fan and tried to buy tickets online, but they were sold out. If there is a way I can get them through this organization. Thanks!! |

Mavericks Tickets |
| I would like to attend a Mavericks game. I was deployed in support of OIF and was medevac'd in August of 2009 I am currently in the Warrior Transition Unit and live in Fort Worth. I had surgery after 6 months of therapy to my right knee and am pending surgery on my left knee. I am a single mother and I feel that my children have already given up so much. I feel that because Basketball is important to them that it would be wonderful to show them that I am greatful for all the support they give me during this time. I also suffer from PTSD and that sometimes could be difficult for them to comprehend. They are patient and loving, for that I am thankful. |

| My husband Cpl. Charles Palmer was Killed In Action Iraq May 5th 2007. My 11 year old daughter has never really asked for anything since. She has asked me to try to get tickets to see Justin Beiber in concert. If there would be anyway possible, this would make one little girl so happy. He is playing at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY on February 20, 2010. We are willing to travel just to attend this concert. Thank you for anything you can do to make this happen. |

My name is Kevin Byrne and I am Commanding Officer of USS ALASKA (SSBN732)(BLUE). My Commnd will be conducting a trip to the NYC area in order to speak to NROTC Midshipman at the United States Merchant Marine Academy and State University of New York at Maritime College. As part of the trip I am bringing one Junior Officer and some senior enlisted personnel. As part of the trip I would like to get my guys to some of New York's attractions- Whether it be a Broadway show, sporting event (Rangers, KNicks, etc) or tour of a historic landmark. Last Minute Plea so Husband Gets To See Show in Las Vegas before he deploys! |
| I know that this might be impossible at the last minute but certainly worth it to see his smile if someone is able to fufill!
My husband, Cpl West, who previously served from 2002-2006 at 29 Palms, CA & Camp Pendleton. Then he re-joined as Reserve in August 2009...and is now back to Active Duty. I am so proud of MY Hero and I hope everyone understands exactly what I am talking about.
He will deploy to Afghanistan in March for 7 months, leaving behind myself and our 3 young boys ages 7, 4 & 2. The one thing that we wanted to do before he deployed was to return to Las Vegas where we were married and celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. While in Las Vegas our hope is to see George Strait in concert at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sat. February 6th, 2010...but any show to celebrate our anniversary would be appreciated. We have everything else set & reserved(non-refundable) and we're being joined by his sister, a Veteran of the Navy. Just when I thought we were set, I am unable to find tickets that we are able to afford..I'm blown away by the fact that the cheapest tickets I have found are $200 a each!
Now I fear that the one thing that he wanted to do before his deployment is out of reach. I am not ready to give up. I hope & pray that someone out there can bring the biggest smile ever not only to his face but also to mine. My husband is a very hard worker and very dedicated to everyone else's needs. He fights hard for our family as well as our country therefore, I am fighting to bring a smile to his face. Please someone, help me in my wish for my Hero so that he holds onto that memory over there as a reminder of what he is fighting for. Thank you all so much for what you do & thanks to everyone who has served, currently serves and plans to serve in the future. |

season opener at Fenway Park
I'll be coming home from deployment at end of March, then flying out to New York to drive my wife back to our home in Wyoming. She's there because she was helping my sister with my sick mom (who died in December). We plan to spread her ashes in Massacusetts, her first home in the U.S. While there, I hope we could see the Yankees play the Sox. If this is actually possible, i'd love for my wife, Michelle, and my sister, Noreen, to be able to come too. Thanks for this patriotic program. It's a great thing you're doing.

Disneyland Tickets (family of 4)
I am leaving California for active duty mobilization to Iraq (Army National Guard) on Monday April 5. My daughter Chloe's 5th birthday is Thursday April 1. She loves princesses, and we'd love to take her and our 3 year old Jed to Disneyland to see the Disney castle, princesses, and other characters before I leave. We will be "stuck" in Long Beach area waiting for the flight out on Easter weekend. It would be a perfect time to take the kids, but it is SO expensive... my wife Wendy was laid off from her job in January so we are trying to keep from spending that kind of money right now.

SEC Tournament
Hi I'm SPC Calen Kirkland and I am currently in Iraq. My family and I are huge Kentucky basketball fans. My dad has only been to one UK game and my younger brother has never gone to one. They mean the world to me and I would love to be able to spend the day watching the Cats with them. I won't be home in time for the regular season so the only way to catch a game would either be the SEC Tournament or in the NCAA Tournament.
